Construction of Social Housing Halted
The building work which had been taking place at a number of different sites in Greater Belfast has been halted. The sites affected are at North Howard Street in west Belfast, Gleneagles Gardens at Dundonald and Brookhill Avenue in north Belfast.
The housing concerned was being constructed by property development company Polly Brothers, which is based in Downpatrick. The projects were funded by the Department of Social Development. The housing was being built for Helm Housing Association.
The work has come to a halt because The Ulster Bank has moved against the company, which is being traded in administration by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC).
PwC commented that work would not resume on the three Helm sites until it reached agreement with the housing association as to how the buildings would be finished and the outstanding work paid for.
