Two Gas Suppliers in Greater Belfast and Larne

For the first time Gas consumers within Greater Belfast and Larne will soon have the choice of two companies. Firmus Energy, which is available throughout Counties Armagh, Derry and Antrim, is coming to Belfast and Larne.

New and existing customers will now be able to shop around for gas supplies. However, there will be an initial testing period which will limit the number of existing gas customers able to switch suppliers and Pay as you go customers will not be allowed to transfer until 2011.

In Great Britain it has been possible for many years to choose between different fuel suppliers and consumers can check the various rates in order to see if they can actually save money by switching suppliers. In order to compare the prices being offered by alternative suppliers with the price from current suppliers, consumers will need to calculate how much they are currently paying for fuel each year by looking at their last four quarterly bills.

With the winter setting in, it is well worth checking all energy and money saving initiatives.
