Social networking

With the growing popularity of social network sites such as “ Facebook”, “Bebo” and “myspace” more young people are spending social time in online communities talking about their lives and the issues affecting the on a daily basis. We are currently looking for some volunteers to help us develop a presence within these online communities, and act as a representative for Citizens Advice directing the users of these social networking sites to accurate information and support.

The role of social networkers will be to act as a bridge between the more traditional format which involves making an appointment and physically going to a bureau to talk in person and the new remote forms of accessing advice via the web, text message and Podcast.

Money Advice

With the rise in consumer credit and the current economic climate debt is one of our largest areas of work.  We currently have roles for specialist advisors to work exclusively within the area of money advice.  The role of money advice takes all of the elements of generalist adviser and takes them forward with additional training and support to enable volunteers to contribute to the money advice project.

Details of this role have been covered in a recent podcast with Scott Kennerley, money advice development officer. Podcast five is available from the volunteer podcasts page.
