Citizens Advice Resolves Court Case

Citizens Advice resolves court case on disputed contract – DETI’s assurances accepted.

Citizens Advice said today that it had reached agreement with DETI to end its court action over a disputed contract for debt advice. The organisation said that it wanted to ensure that the further funding for debt advice was not lost because of its court action.

Speaking after the resolution of the matter in court, Derek Alcorn, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said that the organisation’s challenge had not been undertaken lightly.

We are encouraged by DETI’s undertaking to conduct a good governance review of this contract, which it is now proposing to initiate.

We have raised a number of substantive issues in the course of this challenge –which we will be discussing further with government.
