Citizens Advice attends DUP Conference

Citizens Advice attended the DUP Conference, held last Saturday (27th November) at the La Mon House Hotel.

The Conference provided the organisation with a valuable opportunity to talk with MLAs and other delegates about the work of the organisation in Northern Ireland and the many benefits that this work brings for their constituents.

The Charity discussed the ongoing increase in enquiries across its network of offices as a result of recession and the likely impact of the newly proposed welfare changes on its clients.

Citizens Advice also spoke to Arlene Foster, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment about the DETI funded Dealing with Debt service operated by Citizens Advice, a service provides that face to face debt advice across Northern Ireland.  During the six month period from April to September 2010 the service helped over 1,200 new clients in Northern Ireland and handled over £12.5 million of debt.
