Celebrating CAB Volunteers

Natasha Francis, Training Officer with Citizens Advice treating CAB volunteer advisers to nibbles and cake!
As part of Volunteers' Week Citizens Advice is thanking its volunteers!
During Volunteers' Week at various training events CAB volunteers are being treated to thank them for their valuable contribution to the service.
As part of the training to become a CAB adviser all volunteers must undergo a 14-week training programme which is called the Adviser Training Programme (ATP). This week volunteers were being trained on employment and Housing Benefit but during each course were treated to soft drinks, nibbles and cake!!
Volunteers currently contribute 1,397 hours of their time per week to the service, the equivalent of 40 full-time staff. Using the figure of £11.87 per hour to calculate the economic value of volunteers (2008 Survey of Hours and Earnings, Office for National Statistics) this represents £862,284 per year to the CAB network.
Volunteers are essential to the effective delivery of our high quality services to those most in need and training events provide an ideal way of thanking volunteers for their commitment.
