CAB provides training to DUP members at Stormont
CAB Training on Social Security Benefits and Social Security Advocacy being provided to DUP Members at Stormont
Following a request from Sammy Wilson's office training and advocacy staff within Citizens Advice developed a 2-day training programme for DUP members. The training consisted of an overview of the social security benefits system (delivered by Louisa McKee) and of social security advocacy (delivered by Louise Kyne).
The training took place in Stormont and was well attended by 19 local DUP members. Those who attended work in various roles within the DUP and wished to deepen their knowledge of the social security system.
Louisa McKee, Training Manager for Citizens Advice said: "This training was a pleasure to provide. Participants were committed and enthusiastic. They all agreed that through the training they were equipped to provide a better service to constituents."
During the year Citizens Advice has been involved in the delivery of specialised training to a number of different organisations including most recently Northern Bank, Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health staff. Training is available for external organisations across a wide range of subject areas including social security, money advice, interviewing and negotiating and social security advocacy. Further details of the training available through Citizens Advice is available by contacting Janet Sproule on 028 9023 1120 or via e-mail at sproulej@citizensadvice.co.uk.
